How to install Lighttpd in Kloxo (LXadmin)

December 14th, 2010 4 Comments

Kloxo (Lxadmin) is one of the free control panel which I love to use on low end boxes. But it use good amount of ram, however kloxo’s support claims that kloxo use only 33MB of ram, but for me it is alway 240MB+ even in idle state. Therefore it is best practice to get rid of Apache and use lighttp.

Kloxo comes with light http installed by default and if you have apache installed then it is really easy to convert from apache to lighttpd.

  1. Login as ‘admin’
  2. Click on the ‘server’
  3. Click on server in which you want to convert apache to lighttpd, for my example it is “local host”
  4. Click on “switch program”
  5. Select “lighttp” from drop down box under “web” category
  6. Click on update.
  7. Kloxo (Lxadmin) will take few min to install light http and stop apache and to update configuration files.
  8. It will automatically convert settings of all your domains to lighttpd, and you will not have to create domains again.

And you are done icon smile

Hi, when I try to switch program to lighttp it displays 500 – Internal Server Error?

Seems like lighttpd installation was not completed properly. try to switch to apache..then switch to lighttp again.
